Terms of Service
Effective 2026-05-12
These terms govern your use of Charthand(the “service”, operated by Liro Music — Oscar Mattsson). By signing in or uploading audio you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. What the service does
You upload an audio recording. We run automatic music-information-retrieval models on it and return a lead-sheet PDF describing the chords, sections, key, tempo, time-signature, and (where present) lyrics and ensemble accents. The output is a transcription prep artefact intended for a human musician to review and edit; it is not guaranteed to be accurate.
2. Your responsibilities — acceptable use
By uploading audio, you warrant that:
- You either own the copyright in the recording or have permission from the rights-holder to transcribe it, or the use falls within a copyright exception in your jurisdiction (for example, EU private-study or text-and-data-mining exceptions).
- You will not use the service to transcribe material at scale against the rights-holder's wishes, or to redistribute the resulting transcription commercially without the appropriate license.
- You will not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes the rights of others.
- You will not attempt to circumvent rate limits, probe the service for vulnerabilities without permission, or use automated tools to scrape or replicate the service.
We may suspend or terminate access if we believe these terms are being breached. If we receive a credible takedown request that implicates a chart you have stored, we may delete the chart and notify you — see Copyright takedown notices for the process.
3. Audio retention
Audio files are deleted from our servers immediately after the transcription completes. We do not keep your recordings. See the Privacy Policy for detail.
4. Your content
You retain all rights in the audio you upload and in the transcriptions you create. We claim no ownership of either. We process them solely to provide you with the service. We may compute aggregate, non-identifying accuracy metrics over the system's outputs (e.g. how often a particular model produced a particular chord quality) to improve the pipeline, but we will not use your audio or your chart content to train third-party AI models.
5. Accuracy and disclaimer
The service relies on machine-learning models that make mistakes. You are responsible for reviewing every chart before relying on it for a performance, recording, lesson, or publication. The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy.
6. Beta status
The service is in beta. Features may change, break, or disappear without notice. We may pause the service for maintenance. We will give you reasonable notice before discontinuing the service entirely, and you will be able to export your charts before access ends.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you have paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim and (b) €100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, or data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (such as for gross negligence or wilful misconduct).
8. Termination
You can terminate at any time by deleting your account from the Account & privacy page. We may terminate or suspend your access for material breach of these terms. On termination, sections 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10 survive.
9. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, excluding its conflict of laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Sweden. If you are a consumer resident in the EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
10. Changes to these terms
We will update the “Effective” date when these terms change. Material changes will be announced by email to signed-in users in advance. Your continued use of the service after the new terms take effect counts as acceptance.
